Skywatch Friday: Clouds over Detroit
In the 1967 riots, much of Detroit burned. Great sections of the city are now open space. No buildings have been built in many of the fire-ravaged areas.
This is very true. During the riots and fires, people who could afford to, many of them, moved out of the city proper and into the suburbs. Many of those who remained could not afford to properly rebuild.
The beautiful brick buildings tear at my heart strings, did you know that they are tearing down detroit grand central station, go take photos before they do
Wow...with those clouds and power lines, this is a picture that exudes urban desolation. Very powerful shot, Mary!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like this one!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jacob and Rose for your kind comments.
ReplyDeleteI guess Detroit has never totally recovered from the riots, then? I didn't realize that.
