Belle Isle Willows

Belle Isle is famous for its old warped willows. They are everywhere on the island.

And V, here is the same tree, a litle more "noir" for you.

  1. Add this one to the "noir" tale of the two street scenes below. Someone meets a dangerous stranger near that tree...? Or...?

  2. Love willows...we had a big Weeping Willow in our front yard when we lived in Dallas, but some bugs killed it and we had to cut it down! Boo!

A rather spooky photo, Mary, but beautiful at the same time! So cold looking up thar in Detroit!

  3. Thanks, V, Jacon and Rose. V, I think I'd have fun making this very "noir!" What if I inverted it, for starters?

I used to climb a weeping willow when I was a kid, Jacob!

  5. Strange, but intriguing.
Why are these willows so warped? Is it the wind from the lake?

  6. I'm not sure, willows (around here) all tend to look that way--they have fairly soft wood--so between the wind and constant breakage, that may be why.
