Babies in a bucket
At Detroit's Metrobeach, someone stuck a tub in the crotch of a tree, way high up, and this great horned owl nests there every year. February is nesting season, and she's sitting on eggs.
I can't believe I have missed this! What a hoot!! In more ways than one...nesting in a washtub of all things. But then we had a wren when I was a kid, that could find the weirdest things to build a nest in.
Hope things turn out well for her.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. She's sitting on eggs NOW?! The hatchlings must be very hardy to survive late winter weather.
ReplyDeleteThis is funny, well spotted and nicely caught!
ReplyDeleteThat is so nice. She's up high, secure and can keep an eye on things!
ReplyDeleteNice shots, Mary!
You have me inspired - I should be going around, sticking tubs in trees. Adorable photos. That owl looks so smug in there.
ReplyDeleteThank you all--madly working on the fellowship deadline, they'll be delays commenting!
ReplyDeleteYUP! EGGS NOW!!!
