Water Main Break

This is the view in the evening from our upstairs window--no it is not
spring, we had a water main break. A series of them, actually. It's
been very cold and I guess the pipes freeze and then break
underground. Our street was totally flooded, but I didn't get a shot
of that. The other two are ice on the side of our house.

Mall Walking

Yesterday, we went mall walking, because the sidewalks were all icy and the snow was all crusty (not good for skiing).
  • frog boots at Target
  • wigs at the hair shop
  • Mr. and Mrs. Death in some random mall window (I forget which, nothing that interested me)
  • The last picture is the view out our front window right now--only it doesn't really show how hard it is snowing! (That's my car, and I need to clean it and shovel!)

Ice Fishing

From our Trip to Detroit Metrobeach on Sunday. In the last picture, you can see the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit on the far horizon on the right edge (click image to view larger).

Inside out

Looking into the doctor's office, you can see the lovely (if fake) flowers in a vase there, reflected in a mirror. In the reflection in the glass door, you can see the old snow on the sidewalk outside.

Cranbrook

We went cross-country skiing at Cranbrook today. It was a gorgreous
sunny day. We had a great time.

1)Stegasaurus outside Cranbrook science museum.
2)one of many scultptures on the grounds.
3)ruins of the canoe building.
4)I can't take pictures with my cloves on (Spyders!)
5)Biker Buddy crossing one of the bridges in the bog garden.

Hope all is well with you. I may not be able to blog daily. Big
things coming down the pike!

Skiing at Belle Isle again, Sunset

Here we are, out on Blue Heron Point, beyond the Marble Lighthouse
(Livingston Lighthouse) and Blue Heron Lagoon, skiing at sunset. A
perfect perfect day for it.

skiing at Lake St. Clair

We skied around Pier Park, out the pier, over to the gazebo, and out onto Lake St. Clair where we skied out to look at the frozen ice floes. It was late in the day and the sun set while we were out on the ice.

Ice Palace and Sunset over Detroit River

We went cross country skiing at Belle Isle today. Then we went to the conservatory, then to the ice palace and finally watched the sunset over Windsor from Belle Isle in Detroit. This is the real sunset, with a telephoto lens, not faked in photoshop. It was really cool!

And yet more snow--and cold

I shoveled for 47 minutes and an inch of snow fell on the parts where
I had started shoveling.

Art Class at the War Memorial

I had my water media class at the War Memorial today. It was VERY cold out--I could barely see to drive because the windows kept frosting back up. The snow squeaked. Inside, it was a little warmer. Charlie Myers, the teacher, took a picture of me painting.

The Beach at Pier Park near sunset

Day and Night (DSO and Elmwood Cemetery)

We were having a snowstorm last night, but we went to the DSO
anyway--a great show, "An American in Paris," Bela Fleck and--old age
and treachery--I've forgotten, but it was good--no pix during the show
though, so this is during intermission at the DSO.

And it snowed all day today, a LOT--we shoiveled a lot--and we braved
the snowy roads and went skiing at Elmwood Cemetery. No one had been
there all day and the security officer came, stood in the snow,
watched us ski and cheered us on as we swooped down the cemetery
hills!

More Shore of Lake St. Clair

Here is another shot of the shore of Lake St. Clair, this time looking out.

(I may not be here all the time, as I have conflicts.)

The Shore of Lake St. Clair in Winter

What looks like a line of rocks is the shore of Lake St. Clair along Lakeshore Drive, as viewed from Pier Park. Those are NOT rocks. They are clumps of dead algae and seaweed and detritis washed up on shore. To the left is the lake, to the right is the beach, if you want to be that kind. The straight angular shadow in the background is from the lakewall a the edge of the highway. (Warning: I am going to have to blog less and comment less as I have conflicts!)

Pier Park Ornamental Grasses

We walked at Pier Park two days in a row.

I must cut back on my blogging and commenting.
