At the Village Market

Sidewalk displays along the front wall of the Village Market on Mack. We do 90% of our shopping here and I can and do walk almost every day.

Leaving Saturday and will be away just over a week.

Aug 16, I will participating and reporting on the Woodward Dream Cruise as a blogging guest of GM. The Woodward Dream Cruise is an alcohol-free, family-oriented event. It's a big parade, festivities, vintage cars and other vehicles, and what a blast. If you go, say hi to me.

I have a pinched nerve in my neck that makes using the computer painful. So please be patient with slow responses, since I'll be away for a week and am having problems using the computer!

See three sketches from The Temptation Of Eve. I did them last night for part of a project.

The Village Food Market Today

I walk here almost every day--makes me feel very "continental"--and buy my food for the day and whatever staples I might need. All year, there is a constantly changing selection of fun things to see. They have excellent meats, wonderful! Good fish most days. And a fantastic variety of interesting foods, organic foods, health foods, whole grains, specialty items. All crammed into rows so narrow that there is often a gridlock effect as shoppers try to navigate through each other. Except at holidays, it is absolutely worth it. We prefer supporting local rather than chain stores whenever possible.

I was away for a number of days and am very far behind. I am sorry, I will try to catch up as soon as possible.

By the way, the car in the background that looks a lot like my car is NOT my car, as I walked!

Eastern Market

Marie posted market shots on her Montpellier Cityblog, so here are some from Eastern Market, a huge farmer's market near downtown Detroit. They sell fruits and vegetables, flowers, honey, bread and so on. It's usually bustling, but I was there at the end of the day and it was rainy and windy and people were leaving early.
