Abandoned Laundry

There are lots of abandoned builting in Detroit. I love this one. If I were rich, I'd like to buy it and restore it and use it as a studio, but I am not rich.

Open Space

Detroit has lots of open space becase of the race riots in 1967. There were a lot of fires that burned vast portions of the city, and they were never rebuilt. This is near the center of the city, not far from downtown.

Tim Burke's House

Tim Burke is an artist who lives on Heidelberg Street in Detroit. He lives a very artsy life style. We met him today. I love his work. He makes fabulous tables and chairs out of granit and steel, as well as more whimsical items. I expect to revisit him and his work as well as many other aspects of Detroit in my daily Detroit photoblog. I am new to Detroit, so hopefully we'll be making discoveries together.

I left the photo big so you can click and scroll to see more of the details.
