Dark Angel, Elmwood Cemetery, Detroit, MI, by Mary Stebbins Taitt.

The dark stains are a result of burning coal. Much of the statuary and many of the old buildings in Detroit are stained like this.

Very beautiful sculpture. Maybe you have noticed that I was very much attracted to sculptures as I was myself a sculptor in my former life :-))
