A Postcard from Green Lakes State Park, Fayetteville, NY
wonderful time talking, catching up, playing, being silly, meeting
people and taking pictures. The first four are views of the lake,
which normally looks green due to dissolved calcium carbonate, but
today was grey like the day (but not like our spirits.) The last
picture, which looks like leaves on snow, was actually leaves
underwater on the calcium reefs. Click images to view larger.
Please forgive my lapses in commenting; I will catch up when I get home.

GP
(That's MY bike.) But I rarely ride in winter. The Yacht Club picture was taken Christmas. Lake St. Clair was frozen. The reflections over ice are quite different than over water. Click images to view larger.
We are leaving for NY tomorrow morning and I do not know if I will be able to get online. I'm behind commenting, but will have to catch up when I return so
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Moon over my cookie
St. Clair is frozen. Photo by Mary Stebbins Taitt, with my new
tripod. No effects applied. That's the real moon. The small streak in the sky is an airplane. The distance traveled is the time of the exposure.

gifts
I used each of the pens to re-ink a printout of an earlier pen and ink
drawing I had made and scanned. (There are other versions of this a
similar card made from the same original, but each is hand painted or
re-inked.)

Christmas at the Conservatory and along Lakeshore
The creche is at the same house on Lakeshore that has all the lights.
This is what it looks like during the day.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New year.
I may not be able to get on over the weekend and at Christmas.
Biker Buddy will be on holiday and we'll be visiting. AND BE THEE
DULY WARNED, we're leaving on the morning of the 28th, weather
permitting, for NY, and when we come back on 1/1, I will be in my new
mode of not necessarily posting daily, so this MAY be the last post
for a while (or not). I WILL post when I can.
But meanwhile, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New year.

at night in my neighborhood
The first two are at a neighbor's down the street. The third pictures is a view out our front door. Late at night, everyone turns off their Holiday Lights.
I hope you're enjoying the holiday season. :-DTuesday, December 18, 2007
Local Houses with Snow and Decorations
NOTE: none of these houses are mine, but they are all in my neighborhood. The last one is our postman, delivering the mail to one of our neighbors. He is very nice and friendly.
Note also: still autumn leaves on the flowering pear in the third picture--we had a really late fall this year. Global Warming?

Christmas Tree Shops
Trees up, but every day, more people are buying theirs. I feel sorry
for the trees that get cut down, but I love the way they smell. These
shops are on Mac, around the corner from where we live. Mac is a 4
and 6 lane boulevard with a median that runs through Detroit and in
some places, divides Detroit from the Pointes.
