Lights at ONE House along Lakeshore

These pictures were all taken at a single house along Lakeshore (along
the shore of Lake St. Clair). There are several houses that go all
out decorating for Christmas. They have a huge generator to run all
the lights. Click images to view larger.

I plan to hopefully return to the Formosan deer soon or at some point.
I wanted to tell their story.

After the new year, I may blog less, as I have other commitments I
need to attend to.

Wow! Quite grand! You did a good job getting these to look so sharp.

Thanks--some are sharper than others! :-D It's hard to focus in the dark!

Incredible!

Any tips on how to shoot the lights on the houses? Mine are hit-and-miss, at best. And we have some crazy lit up palm trees down here!

Holy cow! We used to drive up the shore in the north suburbs of Chicago to look at the lights, but there was nothing that extensive there. Beautiful shots.

I know that the daily thing can be timeconsuming, but hope you still find time for some of your great shots from around Detroit, even if not daily. We've really enjoyed them.

Thanks so much Ft Lauderdale and R&R!

I'm so glad someone is enjoying them! Really!

I don't think I'm going to give it up entirely, just put it later in the day instead of early so if I'm too busy it won't happen.

I usually do it first thing now.

The best light pix are early in the evening (not like these) when there is still just a little light in the sky. Use a tripod and BRACKET the shots and pick the best one and delete the others, assuming yr using digital. Getting the focus right is in issue when it's dark.

We have some lit up palm trees here, too--someone must go to Florida.

If you don't have a tripod, use the roof of your car and the self timer. Or any other still object.

Fantastic! I like it when people go out of their way to decorate their houses for Christmas. I just enjoy the festive mood, and the fairy lights.

Will miss you when you blog less :(

That's a spectacular display, especially if it's a private residence. Wow!

What an incredible display. I'm thinking of that Christmas movie, the one where the family tries to out-do everyone in the neighbohood - these people may have to win a prize for energy use from Christmas displays.

I would miss your Formosa deer too. They look like gentle creatures, beautiful, gentle creatures.

Impressive. Pin-point accuracy of focus and exposure. It's interesting to consider the personalities of people who get this nutty with Christmas decoration. Very good job documenting it.

I have Santa on skates in my Sunday post.

It's beginning to feel like Chrismas. I think I start right now to do the Chrismas tree. Thank you.

I totally missed this post! You know, in one of Boston's neighborhoods a guy has decorated his house with 500,000 Xmas lights. Yeah, half a million. Last year his display took 250,000 lights. But, you see, what you are showing here is a bit on the too much side, if you ask me, but it's also tasteful. What this Boston nuts does is very Disneyesque.

I haven't heard how many these people have, but it's a lot. This house is pretty, but some are just jumbled messes, in my opinion.
