Exploring the New DIA

I finally got to go to the new DIA, The Detroit Institute of Arts, or Art Museum. It looks a lot like the old DIA, although a lot has changed, too. Right now, for the opening, they have many of their most famous pieces on display. If I have time, I will show some tomorrow. Today I wanted to give of a little of the "ambiance."

Second shot is my favourite for sure! It looks like it's raining inside! Wonderful :)

Looks like that would be an all day adventure. I like the second one also.

Absolutely lovely. Was that a fountain in the second photo?

I thought it was raining inside. Lovely "feel" to this new place. Will look forward to seeing more.

I'm surprised that they let you take pics.

Did they do anything to the murals?

WOW! Thank you everyone for all the comments.

I am working on adoption and filling out papers etc and it is very hand for me to keep up here.

There were long streamers with small rotating silver discs--it looked like an "art installation" but they said it was just decoration. I did not see the murals but they are probably still there. The place is huge and we spent our time in the graphic arts display because it is is temporary and contains many famous works that soon will not be on display.

As far as picture taking goes, you canno0pt use flash and in soem places, you can't take any pix. You used to have to get a camera permit, but now you don't, which is nice.
