Vacation Day 6: Mouth of the Presque Isle River

On July 4th, the 6th day of our trip, we drove up to the tippy top of Michigan's Upper Peninsula to the Porcupine Wilderness Area and in to the Presque Isle River Campground. We hiked along Lake Superior and the lower portions of the Presque River.

We watched the sunset over Lake Superior. This was a campground community event.

And since this is a Detroit photoblog, here's another Detroit picture from the car show at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, a 1955 Corvette.

See five more pictures from July 4 and read the day's unedited journal. By unedited, I mean BB has yet to add his 2-cents worth.

Mary, thank you so much for sending out your blog of the trip up to the Porcupines. And Hog Island -- maybe my favorite little state forest campground! When it was raining too hard, we would stay at the cabins just east of the campground.
I posted a photo of the suspension bridge over the Presque Isle on for the Sunday Bridges of Louis la Vache.
We will not go up to the UP until September this year and I miss it so!

I love the hog Island campground! What a wonderful place! I stayed there the year I met my husband at Tahquamenon! And started a novel there.

I set it in Nova Scotia to hide the reality of where it was written and the story its actually written about--which is OUR little hog Island.

I hope you do get up there and enjoy it! :-D

Looks like so much fun! Digital cameras have a way of recording memories like nothing else!

(the word verification is motorbug..... appropriate!!)!

Thanks, Greensboro!

I do enjoy recording our trips! :-D

I love ti when the word verification is appropriate--it happens more often than I'd guess.

I was so glad to see your comments on our blogs. From the looks of these shots, you had a wonderful trip. We have hiked along Lake Superior, too, but in Minnesota...some incredible scenery.

I remember that 1955 Corvette and would have given me eye-teeth for one back then!

I was just noticing your plethora of blogs...you must be very, very busy!

Hi Jacob, nice to hear from you! YAY!!!

We had a GREAT vacation!

I don't post to all the blogs daily, only when I have time and inclination. and some I post the same thing to because they are different groups of people.
