The Village Food Market Today

I walk here almost every day--makes me feel very "continental"--and buy my food for the day and whatever staples I might need. All year, there is a constantly changing selection of fun things to see. They have excellent meats, wonderful! Good fish most days. And a fantastic variety of interesting foods, organic foods, health foods, whole grains, specialty items. All crammed into rows so narrow that there is often a gridlock effect as shoppers try to navigate through each other. Except at holidays, it is absolutely worth it. We prefer supporting local rather than chain stores whenever possible.

I was away for a number of days and am very far behind. I am sorry, I will try to catch up as soon as possible.

By the way, the car in the background that looks a lot like my car is NOT my car, as I walked!

This was our last day and also the day we drove home. Thought I
should show some of the pines of the Pinery!

River and Dunes: Sunday (A postcard from the Pinery)

Sunday we hiked two trails that followed the river. There were
millions of wildflowers! Later, we stopped at another area of dunes.
It had gotten all overcast. But it only sprinkled briefly.

Postcard from the Pinery, Day 2 (Saturday)

We took several hikes, saw many wildflowers and birds including this woodpecker. Later, we drove into Grand Bend for some groceries, because it appeared that our lunch meat was missing. After we returned, we took another hike and sat on the shore of the river to
watch the canoers go by. Very peaceful.

Postcard from the Pinery, Day 1

We arrived at the Pinery Last (Thursday) night, but it was dark and we had to set up camp. I had spent a long time yesterday baking cookies and one of the first things that happened last night was that the raccoons stile the whole big bag of cookies and had a big squabble dividing them up amongst themselves. I was very bummed out to lose the gallon ziplock bag full of cookies for the trip! But it was a beautiful day!

Off to the Pinery

We are leaving today for a long weekend at the Pinery. Have a wonderful weekend. I probably will NOT be back 'til Tuesday.

Postcard from the Pinery

We're headed for the Pinery tomorrow for some Memorial Day Camping.

We'll be gone through Monday!

The Pinery is located in Canada, about 2 hours north of Detroit. The
border crossing may be horrid! Both ways. Coming and going.

I will be away and incommunicado (though I may post tomorrow if I have time.)

Otherwise, see you on Tuesday. Have a Great Memorial Day!

In Detroit, it's the Dutch season, LOL! Tulips everywhere! Whoops!
A petunia snuck in there from my porch pot.

Manoogian Visual Resouce Center

Last time I cisted this place, I could not get in, but this time, I
did go in, and there was a lovely student gallery and library. The
worlk displayed in the gallery was excellent and professional, for the
most part, and very interesting. I was not allwed to take any
pictures, though, inside.

This is located in Detroit's "Cultural Center," near the art and
science museum and the Scarab Club etc.

Sidewalk Sale Days

Hmmm, now how much money do I have to put in this meter to park my chariot?

Sidewalk Sale days are coming up this weekend and some of our local
establishments are getting a jump on it. These are on Mack in
Detroit. And yes, the columbines were there too, nice little gardens
along the edge of the street.
