Ice Along Lakeshore

Lake St. Clair freezes, then thaws and breaks up, and the wind pushes the ice up on the lake, sometimes. I find it exciting and beautiful.

These pictures were taken just before and after dawn.

It is exciting and beautiful and scary and eerie and exposes once again the mighty power of large bodies of water - they take no prisoners!

You have captured the power and the beauty very well, Mary!

I love the way the ice seems to make a new continent, complete with rivers and mountain chains - the world anew and in miniature.

But....

Watch your footing, Kiddo!

It is beautiful, I like it how the sunlight shines through the ice shells.

Thank you all so very much! I am very sorry I'm behind--my husband had surgery and then a visit to the emergency room.
