The Most Dangerous City in the Country

I just read and heard on NPR that Detroit is the most dangerous city in the county.  These shots from Nashua Creek are taken in Detroit.  There are some homeless shelters in the woods, but none of their residents have yet threatened us.  The mayor said "It's not as dangerous as it seems because it's just criminals killing criminals."  I have yet to have had a reason to feel unsafe and I hope that continues.  I walk alone at night regularly.  I feel safe and I hope I stay safe.  I expect to.

Nashua Creek again.  Another practice shot for December 1st bridge theme.  It is raining like mad right now.  We're supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow overnight.  Hope the roads are clear to get to to Biker Buddy's Mom's for dinner.

I'm going to spend the day cooking.  I hope those of you who celebrate have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

What a beautiful park! Sometimes when we concentrate just on the negatives, we can't see the beauty. These are fantastic shots of Detroit that I would imagine most people (include ones from Michigan) don't know exist.

Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog.

Thanks North Bay for your sweet comment.

I think most people in Detroit (?) prolly (maybe) know about Belle Isle because it is a huge park, but I would venture to guess than only a tiny percentage take the trail along Nashua Creek. As for visitors, well, dunno--Belle Isle is pretty famous if anyone does their research before the visit. But who would go walking in the woods in the most dangerous city in the country? (I would, and do).

Your mayor has a high sense of (black) humor (...criminals killing criminals, therefore it's not that serious!)

LOL! I thought that was pretty weird too! Aieee!

The leaves are just amazing looking! From the television, I've always thought Queens in New York was the most dangerous, but we are watching fiction ...

Happy Thanksgiving to you too! Hope that you will remain safe. That sure is a beautiful place to keep walking. There is still so much foliage.

They keep changing where the most dangerous place it--right now they say it's Detroit, next year maybe soemwhere else.

It snowed and the leaves are falling fast--like snow--may post another picture (tomorrow?) of the piled underfoot. Biker buddy is out raking.

I sure hope and expect to stay safe.

Thanks, Joy, I appreciate your comment. Even though Belle Isle is in the heart of Detroit near downtown, it is still about a half-hours drive from us--Detroit is very spread out--so an hour round trip. Prolly you have some pretty spot within a half hour's drive, right?

When I told my dad I was going to school (at Henry Ford Hospital in 1974) his comment was " why would anyone want to go to the murder capital of the free world?" I managed to survive 2 years there with out any problem.

I'm glad you survived and I hope you enjoyed it here as well. :-D
