Cranbrook Library and Art Museum

Here's something you don't often see--the fountain sculpture in front of the art museum at Cranbrook still and silent--no running water. They probably have it turned off because of the construction on the museum--the museum is closed for the construction. The museum and library are connected by a covered courtyard. You can see the library behind the fountain in the first picture and the art museum in the second picture. I took these yesterday. Normally, there would be no visible reflection because of the disturbance of the falling water in the catch basin. Here's another picture from yesterday's visit to Cranbrook. It was late in the day, thus the odd orange light.

That is a mountain of dirt there. I wonder what it is for or where it goes?

They are putting in a new air handling system and an archives area and will probably spread the dirt back down in the whole and around when it's done.

I love the sculptures - must be very pretty with the water turned on...it's also nice to see a museum being upgraded...

I like the sculpture! Must be even more beautiful with the water running. But maybe they should turn off the water every now and then, because the reflections are wonderful too!
