New Arrival at Elmwood Cemetery

Over the summer last year, they redid the pond, which used to be a lovely natural environment with ducks and other birds, a place I loved to visit. They ruined it by bulldozing away all the natural plants and putting in rocks and wood chips and little bushes. I didn't photograph it; I was too horrified. They added this monument, which is okay, except did they give the guy a burial "at sea" in the pond, or what? Is his body going to come floating up? Or are his ashes inside the monument? Or what? (There is lots more pond around the monument, but I wanted to capture the geese sculpture.)

Hmmm. I guess we don't all agree what's beautiful, do we? I must say, I'm on your side.

You are right, the sculpture catches the eye.

At least the monument is beautiful.

I don't understand why some people (in the name of progress mostly) have to recreate something that is already beautiful. The monument is beautiful and the swans quite unique.

I love the sculpture, but the other leaves something to be desired.

I should have taken a photo of their improvements and shown the old pond so you could see the before and after.

Of course, I have to admit that when Ladies' magazines do makeovers, I almost always prefer the original woman before the makeover.

I do like the sculpture, which is why I photographed it.

Thanks all.

Rocks, wood chips, and little bushes - bushes too young to know any better.
Amazing how one is horrified by modern "zombie" landscaping.

Good pix and commentary.

That's very strange. Out in the middle of nowhere a monument to geese.

I don't get it, either.

Shame about the natural pond. Is Macauley a goose? Could be.
Great photo.

Thanks all, I really need to do a before and after so you know why I'm upset.
