The door to Josephine's Playhouse

Like everything else in the house, the door is child-sized. 2/3 normal size. Josephine was Edsel and Eleanor's only daughter, but it was the grandmother that the paid to have the playhouse built.

A child with a house of her own? Not enough room in the mansion? That's so unusual, it's a museum piece now. Pretty house, though.

And to think I was happy with a baseball and glove.

Wonder if she enjoyed it as much as we did our poor playhouses?

THANKS!~ :-D

The docent said that she was kind of a tomboy and liked to play outside and play with her brothers and didn't spend all that much time in the playhouse.

Hard to imagine a place like this without seeing the reality. I wonder if she was happier than other, more "normal" girls that age?

I have no idea. I think children, if fed and loved, make their own happiness and do not need a lot to do that.
