Shallow Water

Bluegill, carp. People eat the fish they catch in Lake St. Clair.

This was a popular fish in Poland, especially at Xmas - my mother made jellied carp. They'd have to stay in the bathtub for a couple of days - I remember them swimming around with their mean looking whiskers.

I'm not sure I would even touch that guy.

I've never eaten carp, nor fish from this lake, as far as I know. I have eaten bluegills--as a kid, my brothers and I would go out fishing early in the morning, come back with a mess of sunnies, bluegills and perch which my mother would cook with bacon and eggs for breakfast.

That is one ugly dude! Now bluegills from our little lakes are great eating! I am sending my fisherman over to sample the fishing on Lake St. Clair.

Bluegills are tasty! :-D

I don't find it ugly at all. I can't stand the idea of killing a fish or another animal.

There's not many places left where people can eat the fish they catch. It's good they can there.

Boy, this takes me back. I fished for blue gill incessantly as a young man...they were very good eating. Haven't done any fishing for years, though.

Nice shots, Mary!

Pamela, I am not sure eating them is a good idea, but they do.
