Outside/Inside

Outside, it is warm and rainy, and the snow is melting. But it is
flooded and dismal as well. (Balduck Park). Inside their are tulips
to remind us that spring really IS coming! Someday.

The Calendar may say spring, but we're getting snow here!

1)in the snowstorm, standing on Mack.
2)the view from the bedroom window in the morning.
3)the forsythia
4)the spruce.

Don't forget EARTH HOUR! Turn off your lights from 8-9 PM tonight!

Scott Fountain on Belle Isle, March Dusk

The Scott Fountain on Belle Isle seems rather forlorn with snow and no
water. Please click image to view larger; it looks better that way.

Signs of . . . um . . . Spring?

OM the shore of Lake St. Clair, someone is feeling hopeful and put out
their deck chairs. But turn the other way and this is what they see!
Look down and they see this. But the nearby wall looks almost
springy. Maybe.

The Belle Isle Casino on Easter

Dick over at Texel was saying he had a White Easter--we did too, though it wasn't actively snowing like at his house.

I hope your Easter was good!

Ren Center, Detroit skyline from Belle Isle at Dusk and HAPPY EASTER

This was last night just past sunset. The Detroit River was full of
icebergs, it was really neat.

HAVE A HAPPY EASTER--I'm going to be headed over to my Mother-in Law's
for dinner shortly, so won't be able to comment etc.

Balduck Park in the Rain

Most but not all of our snow is GONE after two days of rain. We have
a few spots at the ends of the driveways. Instead of snow, now there
is water everywhere. It's grey and dismal. But if you look closely under the Balduck Park sign, there are the tips of flower leaves emerging! YAY!

Digital Robin "Painting"

Been working on this getting it ready to attempt a water color
painting on Thursday. I took it at the War Memorial after my first
Water Media class and cleaned it up a little on Photoshop. The robins
have been here over two weeks now. But we still have snow.

Palm Sunday Hike at Detroit Metrobeach (And Happy St. Paddy!)

Yesterday we took an hour-long walk (we walked an hour but were there looking at owls etc for several hours) at the Huron-Clinton Metrobeach nature center. I took LOTS of pictures. These are just a few. It was dark and cloudy most of the time we were there, and snowed. Right near the end, the sun came out and we saw 4 deer.

We saw three owls, with the help of a volunteer owl watcher. We'd seen the obvious one, on her nest in an old tub. But there were two others we'd heard about and had't been able to find. We saw them through a spotting scope but our lenses weren't long enough to capture the owls. Too bad, they were lovely.

As always, click pix to view larger. For more pix from this walk, click here.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. For my card, click here.

Come on Spring!

Spring is struggling with winter trying to convert the Lion into the lamb. The first street picture was yesterday, and it went up to 50. The second pictures is today. I'm not sure it looks much different. But the tulips at the Village Market are a promise of things to come!

This is the street I live on, looking from my house west.

Snow outside; Spring inside

Outdoors there is still snow on the ground, but at the Village Market
on the corner of Moran and Mack, there are tulips in abundance.
Brings hope to the heart.

If it's Thursday, it must be . . .

water media Day! I went to my water media class again today--for 5 hours.

1)John, Charlie, and another student whose name I'm forgetting.
Charlie is the teacher.
2John's experiment with trees in the sunset.
3)Christa learns about granulation.
4)Another student hard at work. She told her name but I forget, so sorry!

After class, it was lovely outside, a real spring fever day, warm and
sunny. I went for a walk from the war Memoria down Lakeshore past the
huge Multimillion dollar McMansions and out onto the lake wall. (5 &
6).

The class was 5 hours long and by the time I got home it was time to
make dinner.
