Balduck Park Woods Trail

This is right near where I live. Not much fall color here, yet, but there is some starting around the hood. Click link below for more info about walking here.

Walking at Balduck Park

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Looking for something a little different in a walking location? If you don’t need miles of trails and are satisfied with a shorter walk, Balduck Park may be just the ticket. Balduck Park is located at the intersections of Canyon and Chandler Park...Read more »

Sunset at Balduck Park

This is the local park where all the dog-walkers come. It's not an official dog park, but the people let their dogs run loose, and the dogs come and bark viciously at anyone else (any "strangers.") The dog walkers then say, "oh, he won't hurt you," but he nips at you and growls meanly. I like dogs--but I prefer friendly ones. And I'd like to be able to use the park unthreatened. It's very close to where I live.

On the far left, you can see a few houses. The park is not very wide at this point. I am standing at one edge and you can see where it ends on the other side. However, it is fairly long for a small urban park.

Winter is hard on animals and birds. This is a dead downy woodpecker. I don't know what killed it, but it probably wasn't a predator, or it would have been eaten.

Balduck Park

It's nearly the peak of fall color, but starting to go by in some spots, as the leaves have been falling like mad. I walk by here nearly every day. It is right in Detroit. The park has baseball diamonds, a man-made sledding hill, a picnic area and the woods. Guess where I like to go.

The sign for the Aspen Trail is on the fence and there is no trail entrance nearby and no aspens, but there is a woodland trail. And lots of color right now!

Balduck Park

Taken with the zoom on the point 'n shoot zoomed all the way out, so
not good quality I'm afraid. But still sort of fun.

Bleachers at Balduck Park

I am not sure why the bleachers at the ball diamond at Balduck Park look like this--all broken up--but they do.

I am very sorry that I've been working at the cottage all weekend, and there is no internet there. I'm working there so much I am falling way behind. Here's one of the rooms I've been working on, still not done. SLOW WORK!

Aspen Trail at Balduck, sunset

There are no Aspen, and no trail starting at this point. There IS a
trail through the muddy woods nearby.

what's keeping us busy

Working on the cottage--no internet there. The last two shots are Balduck Park. We've had so much rain it's a total swamp! (So are people's yards).

See me at Cranbrook here.

Balduck Park in the Rain

Most but not all of our snow is GONE after two days of rain. We have
a few spots at the ends of the driveways. Instead of snow, now there
is water everywhere. It's grey and dismal. But if you look closely under the Balduck Park sign, there are the tips of flower leaves emerging! YAY!
