First Night in Hamilton

We got to Hamilton after dark and were tired, but took a walk along the lake shore anyway. It was blustery, raw and excitingly windy. The waves were crashing loudly on the beach on rocks.

The first picture is the Hamilton Beach house and the second a tree
illuminated by the lights from a little cafe with the beach beyond.

It rained much of the three and a half hour trip, so we were happy it
stopped in time for us to take our walk.

I may not be back on again--have a great weekend!

Turning Off the Fountains

Last week, the Scott Fountain was on. This week, it is off. It looks
sad when it is turned off, and useless. The third shot is a Belle
Isle Plaque and the fourth shot is the Belle Isle marble lighthouse
looking up from its base.

Biker Buddy and I are leaving to go to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada tomorrow and probably will not be back until Tuesday. I may not be able to get on-line. If I do and can, I'll send a "postcard" from Ontario. I probably will not be able to comment until my return. Have a great weekend. (We will also be going away, hopefully, to upstate NY next weekend.)

Fishing from the Riverwalk

The fishing is in Detroit, the power plant in Windsor, Canada. You can see the Canadian flag. The river runs between. CLick image to view larger.

Renaissance Center from the Riverwalk

Biker Buddy and I walked the Riverwalk Saturday when he got home from work, something we may not be able to do again til spring because of the time change. Now that it is getting dark earlier, there will be fewer daytime pictures, as it is often hard for us to get out early enough.

Of course, there are always the archives.

The reflection in the first picture is in a large puddle. The second picture is taken from one of the many small park-like areas with benches along the Riverwalk. The third is Biker Buddy in front of the Riverwalk entrance to the Ren Center. The fourth is the the flags in front of the Ren Center.

I'm an American and somewhat happy to be one. I am happy to have the freedoms I do. But I am disgusted by our environmental policies and our invasion of other countries. I did not vote for the man or his policies. I am not convinced his first election was free and fair. I think it was a scam. And after all his stupid mistakes the first time around, I can't believe half the country voted for him a second time (not me). I don't want to get political on this blog, but I just wanted to say that I believe in diversity. And I only added the last picture because it is visually appealing to me. And representative of what you will see at the Ren Center.

Elmwood Cemetery Statue, Pond and Chapel

Taken yesterday, Sunday, at Elmwood Cemetery and pond. Elmwood Cemetery is located off St. Elliot off Jefferson near downtown Detroit and is very old and interesting. The second photo is the grillwork on an old mausoleum. With a shadow of the grillwork on the wall they built to keep out the grave robbers.

See a nice shot of Nashua Creek from yesterday and the pictures I will be showing in Syracuse.

Fish Plaques

These fish plaques (and others) are embedded in the sidewalk at Tri-Centennial State Park on the waterfront in Detroit. Click images to view larger.

Thinking at the DIA

The DIA is about to open again. YAY! That's the Detroit institute of Arts.

I posted this picture 5 times before it actually posted. Yesterday's pictures never posted, I will try to repost them tomorrow.

This is an archival picture because I was frustrated trying to post the others. I'm starting to hate blogging.

It's hard enough to find time to do it, but when you have to do it 5-6 times to get it to work, that's insane. Detroit daily may be disappearing, unless the blogger straightens out.

It's not my computer, because I tried from BOTH computers. And they are very different.

Detroit Artist visits upstate NY

I've been invited to show six of my new paintings in Syracuse, NY at the Westcott Community Gallery. This is one of the pictures that was chosen for the show, "Yellow Callas. " I had to repaint it because the aspect ratio was wrong for the frame. (I often have that problem, duh!) The original photo from which this was painted was taken in Detroit. (The photo was vertical and had only two callas).

I am posting this picture for November 2 because the other four I tried to post wouldn't load for some reason. I will try again on Sunday maybe, or Monday with the fish plaques.
