Skywatch Friday: Pier Park

I'm taking a little break from the Renaissance Festival to show the evening sky over Pier Park on Lake St. Clair. Both pictures taken the same night, one just a little while after the other. The final one was taken of the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit. To see other lovely skywatch pictures, click here.

What a surprising transition from the images of the quiet marina to the geometric modernity of the last shot.
I'm really impressed by the quality of your photos.

My favorite subjects: boats and water...and such wonderful photos!

You know, I think photographers should encourage one another, but I'm also quite sincere when I say you are an outstanding shooter...

All of these are beautifully exposed, use the light superbly, and are tack-sharp! (Cf. VP's comment, also!)

That's skill, Mary!

Hi again, Mary. Last night we were watching "House Hunters" or something on HGTV. This particular show featured a young lady from Detroit looking for her first home. She was a teacher in a public school and also a sailing instructor. Can you imagine my surprise when the screen filled with a shot very much like the one you posted here -- "Hey, I just saw that," I said loudly, which led my dear wife to look at me like I'd gone totally batty!

The young lady worked for some yacht club. Must have been the same place, right?

Becasue Detroit is on Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River and becasue it connects to the great Lakes, there are LOTS and LOTS of yacht clubs here! The lake is lined with them. It could very well have been the same one--or--it could have been another.

(There must be lots in Floria, too).

Thanks Jacob and Flying Stars.

Wonderful reflections, it's funny the bird is not in the reflection, probably because it's closer to the camera.

Thanks Dick and Berrybird! :-D

DUnno exactly why the birds don;t sow in the reflections--probably becasue of the angle? I did NOT add them.
