Appalachia Detroit

Yes, this is within the city of Detroit, and Detroit and Detroit Metro is a huge urban sprawl with little sign of the countryside. But it does exist in tiny pockets here and there. Right in the city. I think it's nice in a free country that people can choose how they want to live. Click view larger. image to

I wouldn't have guessed it was in the city limits. And your title is hilarious.

Although North Bay is no where near as big as Detroit, we too have similar scenes here but they would not be as out of place as in your city!!

Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog.

Thanks for your comments, R&R, North Bay and Maria Elisa (wonderful name!).

Maria Elisa, I am sorry you can't see the image--I can see it in both Firefox and Internet Explorer so I don't know how to fix that. Maybe I can post it to another site and link to it.

R&R--I hope whoever lives there doesn't see my title and get all offended! I like to celebrate free choice and diversity, but if they are poor and can't change their situation and want to, that would make me feel mean.

It is in the city limits and there are lots more like that--well--lots? Some more, anyway.

OK, I posted the photo to FLICKR if you can't see it here and want to, the link is now below the text.

Might I say that this is very similar to parts of West Virginia?

I missed this. It really looks very rural. What's next to this property?

Other houses, not quite so rural looking, more regular small city houses.

I think the cobblestone house is just across and down a little from this one.
