In the 1967 riots, much of Detroit burned. Great sections of the city are now open space. No buildings have been built in many of the fire-ravaged areas.
This is very true. During the riots and fires, people who could afford to, many of them, moved out of the city proper and into the suburbs. Many of those who remained could not afford to properly rebuild.

No, I didn't know that. I hope we can get there in time! BB's car is up on blocks int he driveway and he is lying under it trying to fix it.
